Why Newport is the Perfect Bachelorette Destination

10 Aug

BEACHES. BARS. SHOPPING. RESTAURANTS. WINE VINEYARDS. MUSIC.

For these reasons and more, Newport is the perfect (and popular) Bachelor(ette) destination. I have been to Newport for 2 bachelorette parties this summer, both different from the other, but equally as FUN. Now let’s get to the good stuff!

Bachelorette Weekend # 1 – Christine Dunn (Longdon)

We drove to Newport bright and early on a Saturday morning, and were picked up by a driver at our very affordable (hard to do in Newport) hotel, Motel 6.

Our first stop was Sakonnet Vineyards, a great winery about 20 minutes from Newport.  At about 10 am, we were the first group there! Our second stop was the Newport Vineyards and Winery, which had a wonderful patio and a gorgeous view. Our third, final and best stop, was Greenvale Vineyards, 5 miles north of Newport. After our tasting, we had a nice little picnic of wine & cheese.

These are just 3 vineyards out of the many in RI surrounding Newport. Wherever we went, the tastings were great (and generous), the staff was helpful, and everyone was excited to be celebrating the bride-to-be!

We then took a water taxi downtown, had drinks on the patio of the Black Pearl, and then ended the night at One Pelham East where we danced and watched Christine forget the words of the song she was singing on stage.

We spent Sunday morning at Second Beach, and then made the trek back to Boston.  What a great weekend!

Bachelorette Weekend #2 – Amanda Shutts

We arrived on Friday night, and stayed at the beautiful Wellington Resort on Thames Street, in the heart of Newport.  It was so beautiful that we didn’t even go out that night!  Our room (suite) came equipped with a kitchen and balcony overlooking the bay, and we spent the night drinking wine, playing cards, making yummy apps, and eating pizza.  It was a perfect (and affordable) way to begin our weekend.

The next morning, we brunched at the swanky Forty 1 North, a waterfront hotel and marina.  There’s no better way to start your day than bloody mary’s and lobster sliders! We felt like royalty.

After laying in the sun (clouds) by the pool, we boarded the Dark and Stormy Sunset Sail.  It didn’t actually get dark and stormy until after our sail was over, but we made it back to our resort before the rain started!  We finished the night by dining at the Black Pearl, and having drinks at The Landing.

Another fantastic weekend!

If your wondering where to stay, eat, beach or go out, visit GoNewport for all the information you’ll need to make your stay just as enjoyable as mine were!

Very much looking forward to celebrating my dear friends Carolyn & Skip, as they get married next summer at the Ocean Cliff in Newport!
